Špačince

Špačince ( German Spatzing or Spatznitz, Hungarian Ispáca - to 1907 Spáca ) is a municipality in western Slovakia, with 2352 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Trnava district and parent Trnavský kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Trnavská pahorkatina ( " Trnava hills "), a part of the Slovak Danube lowlands, the creek Krupsky creek. Špačince is located nine kilometers from Trnava.

History

The village was mentioned in writing in the Zoborská documents as Spacha for the first time in 1111 (other sources give 1275 to ). 1292 was the then Prefect Geth the site by King Andrew III. and his family Spáczay was until the mid-18th century the owner, as it is the Brunswick family bought the place. Mid-16th century, there was an influx of Croats who left the city conquered by Turks Kostajnica and environment; these traces can be seen today. 1699 Spatzing was awarded the market and municipal law, but was downgraded in the 19th century back to a simple village.
