Spálov

Spálov ( German: Sponau ) is a market town with 921 inhabitants and belongs to Okres Nový Jičín in the Moravian-Silesian Region region in the Czech Republic.

Location

Spálov is located approximately 11 kilometers northeast of the town Potštát and about 23 kilometers north of the city Hranice na Moravě.

History

Spálov was first mentioned in writing in 1394. The estate was since the first half of the 14th century, until 1611 a part of the adjacent dominion Potštát. 1560 originated in Spálov a parish school. 1611 sold Bernard Podstadtsky of Prusinowitz on Potštát the villages Spálov, Luboměř and Barnov to Christina of Rogendorf and minor castle († 1621), which took at times the Battle of White Mountain for the party sized page.

The town was devastated during the Thirty Years' War in particular by the troops of Peter Ernst II von Mansfeld. In 1650 a part of Spálov belonged to the nunnery Heavenly Gate in Vienna. Population

In 1771, the place is referred to as a mixture of languages ​​( Czech and German ), in 1786 the inhabitants are named as German Silesians. From the 19th century Spálov has a purely Czech population. In 1835 living in Spálov loud Wolny 1217 inhabitants with Catholic confession.
