Speedway World Cup

The Speedway World Team Championships are held since 1960 by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM ). Since 2001 is called the World Cup Speedway World Cup, before it was called Speedway World Team Cup, and consists of two semi-final races and a final race. The semi-finals and finals will be awarded annually.

Mode to 2011

The Speedway Team World Championship ( Speedway World Cup) will take place in several events within a week. A total of four events will be held at three locations to determine the team champion. There are also the two qualifying runs that are performed before. At each event take four representative teams with five drivers. Six teams are already for the two semi-finals, qualifies the called events. The two winners of the qualifying heats also the semi-finals. The winner of semi-final draws directly to the final. Second and third place winners can still reach the finals if they occupy the first or second place there over the repechage (Race -Off).

Changes in 2012

Since 2012, the teams consist of only four drivers. The host of the finals automatically qualify for this, so participation is limited to the finals with the winners of the semi-finals as well as the Race- offs.

Purse

The prize money that will be paid, will be paid by the FIM to the national association, which is responsible for the national team. The total prize money of 122,000 U.S. dollars will be distributed.
