Spišská Belá

Spisská Bela ( German Zipser Bela, Hungarian Szepesbéla ) is located north of the 7 km away Kežmarok a city in eastern Slovakia, in the valley of the Poprad.

Spisská Bela was mentioned in 1263 for the first time in writing as Bela and is divided into the actual city Spisská Bela ( Zipser Bela ) and the eingemeindeten on February 1, 1976 Location Strážky ( German Nehre ), which is located south of the city. Due to the location of Belerbach ( Beliansky Potok ), which shortly thereafter flows into the Poprad flows. The mathematician Josef Maximilian Petzval was born here.

The place belonged to the Brotherhood of the 24 royal parishes and the Federation of Spis 24 cities. By pledging to a part of the cities it became part of Poland and was later a part of only 16 Zipser cities. Even while pledging the city maintained their wealth.
