Sportsperson of the Year (Slovakia)

( Original name: sportovec roka ) As in many countries, a sportsman of the year is also held every year in Slovakia chosen. He is elected by the Association of Slovak sports journalist since 1993. Before this time, it occurred in a common state with the Czech Republic in Czechoslovakia.

It will be announced both individual athletes and successful team. Ladies and gentlemen are selected in a common category. Previously, the award was giving to thirteen different sports. The successful individual athletes are Martina Moravcová ( swimming) with six awards and Michal Martikán ( canoe slalom) with four awards.

The team award has been achieved by nine teams from seven different sports disciplines. The most successful are the four-man kayak team with six awards and the Slovak national ice hockey team with five awards.
