Spyrydon Lytvynovych

Spiridon Litwinowytsch (Ukrainian: Спиридон Литвинович, Polish Spirydion Litwinowicz ) ( born December 6, 1810 in Urman, † June 4, 1869 in Lviv ) was Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Lviv archeparchy in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, today Ukraine.

Life

Spyridon Litwinowicz was ordained a priest on July 19, 1835 and at the age of 47 years, was appointed on April 8, 1857, Auxiliary Bishop of Lviv archeparchy and at the same titular bishop of Canatha. He was consecrated on 17 May 1857 in Vienna by Ioan Lemeni, bishop emeritus of Fagaras and Alba Iulia (Romania). The appointment as Metropolitan of Lviv was held on 28 September 1863.

In the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria he possessed as Lemberger Metropolitan over a Virilstimme in the Galician parliament.
