The Stadio Città di Arezzo (English: Stadium of Arezzo ) is the home stadium of the Italian football club AC Arezzo. Arezzo, capital of the province, located in the central Italian region of Tuscany.

History

The first municipal stadium was built in 1923. The current stadium was opened on September 24, 1961 and took around 8,000 spectators. First, the venue had the covered main and opposite stand. In 1965, the North Stand was opened. Two years later, the sports facility was a track and field facility; but which can no longer be used today. In 1982, the South Stand was opened.

The first major changes to the stadium were then carried out in 1992. This was due to the visit of Pope John Paul II in the Diocese of Arezzo - Cortona - Sansepolcro on 19 and 20 September 1992. He held in the stadium from a fair. The main stand was renovated; security measures have been increased as well as the renewal of the dressing rooms, press room and inputs.

The AC Arezzo 2004 managed the leap into Serie B, the second- highest league in Italy. On this occasion, we tore the old grandstand from the South Stand and placed directly behind the field on a steel stand. This also a part of the athletics track was removed. The grandstand was named Curva Lauro Minghelli. This is the former captain of AC Arezzo Lauro Minghelli, who died at the age of 31 years on the disease Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ( ALS) in 2004 honors.

Until 18 November 2006, was named Stadio Comunale; the city council of Arezzo decided to give it its present name Stadio Città di Arezzo. From 1987 to 2006, the music festival Arezzo Wave took place in the stadium.
