Stampede (Band)

Stampede is an English hard rock and new-wave -of- British -Heavy- Metal band from London, founded in 1981, disbanded again in 1984 and 2009 took place again.

History

The band was formed by singer Reuben (previously briefly also worked at Lionheart ) founded towards the end of 1981 and guitarist Laurence Archer, after they had separated from their previous band Wild Horses. A short time later, Frank Noon, previously also worked at Wild Horses, the band. As a keyboardist Alan Nelson joined the band, which had previously played with the band Lautrec, in the even Reuben and Laurence Archer had been active before. Was completed the occupation by bassist Colin Bond. It was followed by the first minor appearances in various clubs, which the band was able to increase their awareness. In early 1982 the band recorded the first songs, which the band could reach the attention of Tommy Vance from the BBC. Vance gave the group an appearance on the Friday Rock Show, which aired on May 28 on BBC 1. In the show, the band with Photographs, Moving On, The Other Side and Shadows of the Night played four of their songs. It was followed by another appearance on Capital Radio with Girlschool, as well as an appearance on the Mildenhall Rock Festival, on the drummer Noon through Eddie Parsons replaced. Following Polydor became aware of the band and took them under contract. There followed a first single called Days of Wine and Rose, on the 7 "version of the title song nor the song Photographs contained. On the 12 "version also were the songs of Moving On, which was heard earlier in a shorter version on the compilation Steel Crazy, and Missing You included. The single was released while the band at the Reading Festival along with Praying Mantis, Diamond Head and Budgie played. Thereafter, Polydor released under the name The Official Bootleg, a live album, which consisted of recordings of performances at Reading Festival and the Mildenhall Rock Festival. In early 1983, the band went to the studio to record their debut album. At the same time, the band also went along with Gary Moore on tour in the UK. Alan Nelson had also left the band and was replaced by keyboardist Mark Stanway Magnum. The album was released in 1983 under the name Hurricane Town. On the album the band consisted of bassist Colin Bond, drummer Eddie Parsons, guitarist Laurence Archer, keyboardist Mark Stanway and singer Reuben Archer. In 1984, the group split up.

In 2009, the band reunited in 2011 and released the second album A Sudden Impulse at Grind That Axe Records and Rock Candy Records.

Style

The band played on their debut album Hurricane Town Hard Rock similar to the music of UFO and Deep Purple, the group and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal is attributable. The second album A Sudden Impulse is comparable to the works of Aerosmith, with influences from bands like Boston, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bad Company are audible.
