Stand Up to Cancer
Stand Up to Cancer ( SU2C ) is a charitable project of the U.S. Entertainment Industry Foundation, a charitable organization of the entertainment industry.
Charity project
Goal of Stand Up to Cancer is to collect about the Internet and television to raise funds for research in translational medicine to fight cancer ( engl. cancer ). The project was launched on 28 May 2008 with a press release and the activation of a website. Central event of the campaign was a one-hour telethon, which was broadcast jointly by three major U.S. television stations on September 5, 2008 and was adopted by Canadian broadcasters. There enlisted celebrities to support that were partially affected by cancer itself or as Christina Applegate and Patrick Swayze.
Artists Stand Up to Cancer
In the TV show was, inter alia, the campaign song Just Stand Up! presented, which was presented by some of the most famous American and British singers. Involved were Mariah Carey, Beyonce Knowles, Carrie Underwood, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Sheryl Crow, Fergie, Leona Lewis, Keyshia Cole, LeAnn Rimes, Natasha Bedingfield, Melissa Etheridge, Mary J. Blige, Ciara, Ashanti and Nicole Scherzinger. Following the broadcast, the single is not only the U.S., but also for example in Japan, the UK and Sweden went into the charts, though the project itself is limited to the United States. In the studio recording all performers are represented except for Nicole Scherzinger.
