Staro Petrovo Selo
Staro Selo Petrovo ( in German literally means ' Old Peter's village ') is a municipality with 5186 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) in the County of Brod - Posavina, which belongs to the Croatian region of Slavonia. In addition to the village itself to the municipality consists of the villages Godinjak, Oštri Vrh, Štivica, Tisovac, Vladisovo and Vrbova.
Geography
The community is located east of the town of Nova Gradiška on the Zagreb- Lipovac highway. In the north, the Požeška Gora mountain range located.
The area of the municipality is 141 km ². The population density is 37 inhabitants per km ². To the west is the municipality Rešetari, in the east, the Municipality of Nova Kapela and in the southeast the community Davor.
History
The oldest preserved documents about Staro Selo Petrovo have their origins in the late medieval period ( 13-16 century). The village was first called Petrović selo ( ' Petrović village '), then Mitrovic selo (or Mitrovo selo for ' Mitars village ' - employees is a local short form of the name Demeter / Dimitri ). In the time of Empress Maria Theresa (1740-1780), the villagers from the mountains into the valley were resettled in the restored ancient Roman road. This was due to the suppression of the Ottomans over the river Sava. The villagers should now protect the border against the Ottomans (see Military Frontier ). Why were the villagers, who were settled in the restored Roman road, known as the " Graničari " ( read ' Granitschari ' = border guards ). Here, there is a composite of several villages to Staro Selo Petrovo.

Staro Selo Petrovo is known for its dairy products. This is where the cheese is made according to old recipes.
Prominences
The famous Croatian Dance / soul singer Jacques, whose real name is Željko Houdek, comes from the village Crnogovce.
