Stederau

The Stederau (blue), its course to the confluence with the Gerdau ( = Ilmenau)

The Stederau is 35 km long, right or eastern source of Ilmenau river in Lower Saxony ( Germany ). In its course, the river changes several times his name. The Stederau considered as moderately polluted ( water quality class II). The river bottom is mostly sandy with gravel inclusions in the peripheral areas is deposited partly from mud.

Course

The river rises as Bokeler creek in the southeast of the High Heath, in the extreme north of the district Gifhorn near the hamlet Günne. Here, in the upper reaches, it is expanded grave -like. In the vicinity of the source is the Bullenkuhle, a Moor.

The river first flows in an easterly direction and crosses behind the village Bokel the district border to the district of Uelzen. Here he changes his first name to Röhrser Bach. After the village Röhrsen the waters Aue is called. From the village Lueder the floodplain changes the main flow direction from east to north and crosses by means of a culvert for the first time Elbeseitenkanal.
