Steeler

Steeler is a former American heavy metal band that in 1983 released their first and only album. The best-known members were guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen and vocalist Ron Keel of Metal (founder of Keel ). The band name " Steeler " was referring to a song by Judas Priest.

History

Steeler was founded at the beginning of the 1980s in Nashville, Tennessee by vocalist Ron Keel and publish in 1982 a self-financed single called Cold Day In Hell. The band attracted the interest shown by Brian Slagel, who then put the song on his first Metal Massacre compilation. The band then moved to Los Angeles and was taken by Mike Varney's Shrapnel Label Records. At this time there were Steeler alongside Keel from guitarist Michael Dunigan, bassist Tim Morrison and drummer Bobby Eva.

Varney helped in transforming the band Instrumentation and made ​​contact with the Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen ago, which henceforth replaced Dunigan. The rhythm section of Steeler was also replaced. Thus came for the former bassist Morrison WASP bassist Rik Fox and drummer Bobby Eva came Mark Edwards. Mike Varney produced their self-titled debut album, released in 1983 and got some world in the rock music scene of attention. Nevertheless Malmsteen left the band in the direction of Alcatrazz, which in turn means withdrawing from Fox and Edwards result.

Keel hired briefly to Mitch Perry (guitar), Greg Chaisson (bass) and Bobby Marks (drums), before he broke up the band permanently.
