Stephan Krehl

Stephan Krehl ( born July 5, 1864 in Leipzig, † April 9, 1924 in Leipzig) was a music theorist and composer.

Krehl studied in Leipzig and Dresden music. From 1889 to 1902 he was a teacher of piano and music theory at the Conservatory in Karlsruhe. From 1902 until his death he taught then in Leipzig. As Director of Studies, he served there from 1921 to 1924. IN his disciples heard Pablo Sorozábal, Günther Ramin, Rudolf Mauersberger, Rudolf Wagner- Régeny, Peder Gram, Edvin Kallstenius, Stevan Hristić, Heinrich Stahmer and John Weyrauch. He is the author of several textbooks on music theory as the "General music theory " of 1904. His work as a composer includes about 30 works for piano, violin and clarinet.
