Stephanie Cox

Stephanie Renee Cox ( born April 3, 1986 as Stephanie Renee Lopez, San Jose, California) is an American soccer player. She plays in the U.S. national team and from 2010 to 2011 for the Boston Breakers.

Life and career

Stephanie Lopez began playing football at Elk Grove High School and played for Elk Grove United along with Megan Rapinoe. Both there and at Portland University, she received several awards, but could not play often because she was traveling with various U.S. youth teams. At the start of the WPS 2009, she played for the Los Angeles Sol, with which they reached the play-off finals against Sky Blue FC. After the dissolution of the Association due to financial problems, she moved in 2010 to the Boston Breakers.

Lopez went through several U.S. youth teams and was 18 years to the team, which in Canada in 2004 was runner-up at the CONCACAF U -20 Women's Championship. In the U-19 World Cup in Thailand was 2004 Third, used in all six games and was in the quarterfinals against Australia 2-0 to both doors, templates. In 2005 she won the U -21 Nordic Cup. She was captain of the team that finished fourth at the U- 20 World Cup in Russia, where they met in the semi-finals and lost a penalty shootout in the small final to score.

Lopez was in 2005 for the first time invited to the training of the senior team and made her first senior international with 18 years ago, shortly before her 19th birthday when, on March 13, 2005 in a 4-0 against Denmark during the Algarve Cup, which the U.S. was won, on as a substitute. It remained their only game to the Algarve Cup in the following year, in which she came to two other games. After Heather Mitts suffered a torn ACL, she was nominated as the youngest player and the only college player for the 2007 World Championships, where she was used in all games and was replaced only in the semi-final against Brazil for the second half.

For the Olympic Games in Beijing, she was nominated as a replacement for the injured Cat Whitehill, where she appeared as a substitute in four games and played again from the beginning. In the group match against Japan gave the presentation to the 1-0 winning goal by Carli Lloyd. They therefore had their share of winning the gold medal - in the finals it was loaded until the 120th minute.

2009, there was only enough to use one against Canada, while it was 2010 again more frequently used, including at the Algarve Cup and in a game at the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup in 2010.

In 2011 she seems to have finally established itself in the national team: It was used in nine out of ten games, including at the victories in the Four Nations Tournament and the Algarve Cup and is part of the U.S. squad for the World Cup 2011 in Germany. They came in two preliminary games for use with their team and reached the quarter-finals.

Private

Your December 2007, she married Brian Cox, a former baseball player at the University of Portland. On April 7, 2013, it had a daughter.
