Stephenson King

Stephenson King ( born November 13, 1958 in Castries, Saint Lucia) is a politician from Saint Lucia and was prime minister of the country between 2007 and 2011.

King represents the electoral district of Castries North for the United Workers Party. King won the seat in the elections on December 11, 2006.

In the government of Prime Minister John Compton, who came into office on 19 December 2006, King served as Minister of Health and working conditions. After Compton fell ill in May 2007, King was appointed acting Prime Minister. In a cabinet reshuffle in June 2007, he was Minister for Finance, exterior, home issues, homeland security, labor and information.

Compton died on 7 September 2007 and King had announced his death the following day. On 9 September 2007, he was sworn in by Governor-General Pearlette Louisy as Prime Minister.

After the election of the Labour Party in the elections of November 28, 2011 King was replaced on 30 November by Kenneth Anthony as head of government.
