Steve Guy

Steve Guy ( born March 15, 1959 in Wellington ) is a former New Zealand tennis player.

Life

Guy studied at Wichita State University in Kansas and reached the final of the 1983 ATP Tournament Satellite of Thailand. In 1984 he became a professional tennis player and qualified in Auckland with wins over John Evert and Wally Masur first time for the main draw of a tournament, the ATP World Tour. He urged action before the quarter-finals. In 1986, he won the ATP Satellite Tournament of Yugoslavia and was a semifinalist of the Challenger Tournaments of Budapest and Fukuoka. In 1987 and 1988 he could each win a doubles title on the ATP Challenger Tour, he also won the 1988 individual title at the Challenger tournament in Singapore. His only title on the ATP World Tour, he won in 1989 in Auckland at the side of Shuzo Matsuoka.

Guy played 1984-1991 seven singles and three doubles matches for the New Zealand Davis Cup team.
