Steve Turner (guitarist)

Steve Turner ( born March 23, 1965 in Seattle ) is an American rock musician and guitarist of the band Mudhoney and is in this capacity as one of the pioneers of the so-called grunge movement.

Musical career

In 1981 he founded together with Scott Warner (bass ), Dave Middleton (vocals), Charlie Guian (guitar ) and Mark Arm (drums) GarageBand the Limp Richerds. In addition, he played from 1982 along with his school friend Stone Gossard at Ducky Boys and rose in 1983 on Mr. Epp, where Mark Arm as a guitarist worked. After joining Mr. Epp he founded Spluii Numa with Charlie Guian (guitar), Fufu (bass ), Eric Aisen (vocals ) and another guilt boyfriend Alex Vincent ( drums). Except for Mr. Epp none of these combos has left musical performances for posterity on recordings.

Since all of these bands promised not to get ahead, he joined in 1984 with Mark Arm (vocals, guitar ), Alex Vincet (drums) and Jeff Ament ( bass) of the immigrant from Montana Hardcore band Deranged Diction to Green River together. Turner suggested this name before in terms of the Green River Killer. Green River, from 1985 enhanced by Stone Gossard as a second guitarist, was soon, along with Soundgarden the most famous scene sizes. The end of 1985 he left Green River due to the different musical opinion and because of school commitments. He played the way in the Thorwns ups guitar. When Green River broke up on October 31, 1987, he joined with Mark Arm to Mudhoney, where he ( July 1999 to January 2001 as a bass player ) plays the lead guitar except for a brief exception.

Musical Style

Turner's musical style has its origins in the Stooges, MC5 and the former Seattle punk band Sonic.

Musical influence

He impressed his influence mainly not by his guitar playing, but rather by his anti-star setting which also marks arm rests. This behavior was already evident at Green River, and he has kept it up to date. Kurt Cobain was impressed by this attitude.
