Stig Tøfting

Stig Tøfting ( born August 14, 1969 in Aarhus ) is a retired Danish footballer.

Career

Association

Stig Tøfting began his professional career in 1989 at Aarhus GF and immediately became a regular player. After five years in power brought Aarhus, where he also won the Country Cup 1992 Turner Willingen ( Danish Cup ), consequently came the interest in him from abroad. The German Bundesliga club Hamburger SV won the race and took Tøfting. But at HSV Stig Tøfting could not prevail, and came in the first half of the season only eight missions. During the winter break of the season Stig Tøfting returned on loan to Denmark and was hired by Odense BK. At the start of season 1994 /95 of HSV gave it to his hometown club Aarhus GF. As at the end of the loan contract expired, to Aarhus GF and the HSV agreed on a further loan, before the club from Jutland Tøfting bought final. There Stig Tøfting played until the winter of 1997, then he moved back to Odense BK. But after just half a year he returned to Germany. But this time for MSV Duisburg. There he was able to fight for a regular place and reached the Duisburgern surprisingly the final of the DFB Cup, which they however lost with 1:2 against FC Bayern Munich. After he lost his place, he joined in April 2000 again back to Aarhus GF. However, he joined in the summer of the same year returned to Germany in the football league and returned to Hamburger SV. Unlike the first time he was able to prevail. In February 2002 he returned to the HSV again the back and moved to the English first division club Bolton Wanderers. There he was never happy. After he was sentenced in the fall of 2002 in Denmark to jail, they separated in 2003 Tøfting and Bolton. After his release from prison, he moved to Asia and went to China. There he wrote to at Tianjin Teda. But after only half a year, he returned to Europe and went back to his Danish homeland. There he wrote in his parent club Aarhus GF. However, he was released in the winter break of the 2004/05 season at Aarhus GF because he beat himself. So Stig Tøfting moved in winter to the Swedish top-flight climbers BK Hacken. After relegation in Sweden, he returned to Denmark to second division side Randers FC. With the Jutes he rose to the SAS League and surprisingly won with a 1-0 victory after extra Esbjerg fB also for the third time now the Danish Cup. In December 2007, he ended his career and was an assistant coach in Randers.

National

Tøfting denied 1993-2002 41 internationals. He made his debut on January 30, 1993 against the USA (2-2 ). With the national team, he participated in the European Football Championships in 1996 and 2000 as well as the Football World Cup in 1998 and 2002. In the 1996 European Tøfting and Denmark failed after the first round. Two years later, at the World Cup in France, he was urged to before the quarter-finals. There would retire very narrowly to Brazil from (2:3). Again, two years later, at the 2000 European Championships in the Netherlands and Belgium, would retire again after the preliminary round. 2002, at the World Cup in Japan and South Korea, would retire only from in the second round, when they lost against England (0:3). The knockout defeat was also Tøftings last game in the national team of Denmark. After the World Cup he finished his career in the national team.

Career as a coach

After end of his career he was an assistant coach for Randers FC and held the post until 2009. On 19 April 2010 he returned to his tribe Club Aarhus GF and took over until the season end the post of assistant coach. The descent of the club could not be avoided, however.

Conflict with the law

Stig Tøfting had more trouble with the law in his home country during his career. 1999, the Dane in Aarhus was sentenced to a 20 - day jail sentence, having previously struck down a passer-by. In June 2002, after returning from the FIFA World Cup 2002, Tøfting had knocked down the boss at the Copenhagen restaurant "Café Ketchup ". In the run, he was arrested by a civil strife. In October 2002, he was sentenced to at four months in prison. Because of this, Tøfting separated in 2003 by his former English club Bolton Wanderers. In July 2003, followed Tøftings release from prison.

2014, the editorial team of France Football published a list of the "50 most problematic soccer player since the late 1960s ", in which they filed Tøfting to third place and this particular thus established that he had repeatedly come into conflict with the law.
