Stolt -Nielsen Limited ( SNL ), headquartered in Bermuda is one of the world's largest companies in the transport, handling and storage of chemicals, petroleum products and gases. Another part of the company is engaged in the operation of aquaculture.

Structure

The Stolt -Nielsen Limited acts as the holding company for several subsidiaries. The break down as follows:

  • Stolt Tankers operates the world's largest fleet of chemical tankers of different sizes and ride areas.
  • Stolt -Nielsen Gas ( SNG) operates a fleet of LNG carriers.
  • Stolt Bitumen Services (SBS) operates a fleet of bitumen tankers, bitumen and bitumen containers terminals in Asia.
  • Stolthaven Terminals operates a number of terminals and warehouses.
  • Stolt Tank Containers ( STC) operates the world's largest inventory of stainless steel tank containers.
  • Stolt Sea Farm (SSF ) operates aquaculture enterprises for the production of turbot, sole, sturgeon and caviar.

History

The company was founded in 1959 by the Norwegian Shipbrokers Jacob Stolt -Nielsen as Parcel Tankers Incorporated and operational in the beginning a chartered tanker, the Stolt Avance. In the following four years, the fleet was increased to 18 units, and opened offices in New York and Japan Oslo. 1970, the Company issued seven chemical tankers in order, their layout with double hull and stainless steel tanks influenced both later ships of this type as well as the upcoming IMO Rich lines. The following year, the first storage terminal was purchased. Again, a year later, Stolt -Nielsen Seaway A / S was founded, whose business was aimed at services and exploration of offshore oil production.

On December 15, 2009, being the fiftieth anniversary of the company, Christer Olsson took over the post as chairman of Jacob Stolt -Nielsen.

In 2010, the transfer of the registered office of Stolt -Nielsen Limited has decided to Bermuda. In the same year Sungas Holdings took over half of the shares of Avance gas, a previously 100 percent subsidiary of Stolt -Nielsen Gas. As part of this business Avance Gas took over three VLGC tankers of Sungas. Another four VLGC tanker came in 2012 to the fleet. Stolt Tankers acquired in 2010, seven stainless steel tank chemical tankers built between 2000-2009 with capacities 20000-37000 tons together for 255 million U.S. dollars. Another ten new buildings with additional options were added in 2012 in order. In the years 2010-2012 Stolt Tank Containers upgraded its container inventory on several thousand new units.
