Storvik

Storvik is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of Gävleborg and the historic province Gastrikland in the municipality of Sandviken.

The town is located 15 kilometers west of the main town of the municipality of Sandviken. Storvik 1924-1970 was a market town ( Linköping ) and was incorporated on January 1, 1971 in the municipality of Sandviken.

History

The railroad Gävle - Dala Järnväg ( Bergslagsbanan today ) was in 1858 by Storvik opened ( former station was Storviks övre ). In 1875 a new station Storvik was created as the Norra stambana Stockholm- Uppsala Krylbo - Storvik here their milestone reached, 218 km from Stockholm. The continuation after Ockelbo and Ånge followed in 1876 bis 1881.

The station building ( Storviks station) from the mid- 1870s, was designed by architect Adolf W. Edelsvärd.

The place was built, according to a city planning with a rectangular street grid. Near the station is the former post office and the former courthouse ( tingshus ). Storvik has some industries, such as ABB Service AB.
