Joseph Stuart " Stu " Clancy ( born June 6, 1906 in Branford, Connecticut, USA, † September 24, 1965 ) was an US- American football player in the National Football League ( NFL). He played for the New York Giants.

Playing career

Stu Clancy was born the son of a funeral entrepreneur. He attended in his hometown high school, where he played alongside American football and basketball, and baseball. At a preparatory school for his college study of gambling as an end Clancy was retrained to Halfback. Clancy received a range of courses at Georgetown University, but he decided to a college degree at the College of the Holy Cross, as his high school coach was changed to the local football team. Stu Clancy also played college basketball and was both in basketball, as well as in the football team captain.

After studying Clancy struck out an offer for the St. Louis Cardinals, a team of Major League Baseball ( MLB) and followed instead the Newark Tornadoes, who had to leave the NFL after the 1930 season. Stu Clancy moved to Staten Iceland Stapleton. The team only had a small budget and suffered from lack of money. 1932 Clancy moved during the current season to the trained by Steve Owen New York Giants. The team around the top player Ray Flaherty and Ken Strong moved in 1933 into the NFL final, but had to concede defeat there the Chicago Bears with 23:21. 1934 Ed Danowski came to the team from New York City and the Giants were able to beat the Bears with 30:13 in the NFL playoff. The following year, Clancy moved into his third final. The Giants were subject in the Detroit Lions 26-7. After this season Clancy ended his career.

After the NFL

Until his death, he led the funeral company founded by his father. Stu Clancy was inducted into the Branford Sports Hall of Fame posthumously in 1989.
