Geography

Cross through the town flowing south of the creek Margecianka. The center is located at an altitude of 460 m nm and is two kilometers from Spišské Podhradie, and 16 kilometers from Levoča.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1264 as Kaldbach writing. As the name suggests, the place was inhabited predominantly by German colonists. Thus, the village belonged to the province of the Saxons and later to collar 24 Zipser cities, although as part of the city church plan (today Spišské Podhradie ).

As in 1412, the city parish plan was pawned to Poland, the village remained in Hungarian hands and came to the manor of the nearby Spis Castle and tells his men that, as Zápolya in the 15th and 16th or Thurzos in the 16th century. From the 17th century to the end of serfdom in 1848 Kohlbach is then closely related to the Zipser provost or the diocese of Spis.

The "too German " sounding name was in 1948 in the Slovak Studenec (Slovak " studený " = cold) changed, just as 40 years earlier at the Hungarian name Hidegpatak ( = cold stream ) happened.
