Sturgeon River (Marchington River)

The Sturgeon River is a left tributary of the Marchington River in Kenora District in the western Canadian province of Ontario.

The Sturgeon River forms the outflow of Lake Sturgeon. Shortly afterwards, the Ontario Highway 599 crosses the river. It flows in a predominantly westerly direction through the Canadian Shield and opens at Robinson in the eastern end of Marchington Lake. This is drained by the Marchington River. The railway line of the Canadian National Railway crosses the Sturgeon River just upstream of the mouth. On his way to the west of the Sturgeon River flows through several lakes, including Lake Fourbay, Dizzy Lake Conver Lake, Spruce Lake and Lake Singapore. Between the lakes of the river overcomes several rapids. In the Conver Lake of Lake of Bays River flows from the south, and the Nesbitt Creek from the north. The Sturgeon River has a length of about 40 km.
