Südwestdeutsche Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft

The West German transport company ( SWEG ) is a public transport company, the Railroads, rail passenger and freight traffic and bus service operates. It can be 100 % owned by the State of Baden- Wuerttemberg. The SWEG is a member of the collective organization of the federal treasury and non-federally owned railways in Germany ( TBNE ).

History

On December 10, 1962, the West German Railway Company Ltd. ( SWEG ) the state of Baden -Württemberg as a collecting society for the endangered southern Germany stretches from the decommissioning of the private German railway operating company ( DEBG ) was founded in Ettlingen.

After the DEBG had sold its ten -operated still in Baden- Württemberg paths to the new company, they took on 1 May 1963 following tracks full operations on:

On 1 October 1971, the State of Baden- Württemberg united which also are owned Mittelbadische Railways ( MEG ) with the SWEG, turning this into the West German railways corporation headquartered in Lahr / Schwarzwald order. This has the following MEG routes and bus lines came to SWEG:

  • Operating Schwarzach ( Umspurung the former MEG narrow gauge line Bühl- Schwarzach - Stollhofen, branching to Söllingen and Greffern )
  • Kaiserstuhlbahn
  • Bregtalbahn
  • Traffic Operation garbage home Badenweiler

Meanwhile, since the bus company had gained a larger share of the total, took place in 1984 to change the name in West German transport company, with the previous shortcut SWEG was retained.

The winning tenders or direct award of transport services by the state of Baden -Württemberg to the Ortenau S -Bahn and Breisgau- S -Bahn are lost tenders for services on the meadow valley railway (in cooperation with the Basel public transport operators, award to the Swiss Federal Railways ) or on the Baden Black Forest Railway (in cooperation with SBB GmbH, Albtal traffic society and the HzL, lending to the Black Forest Railway GmbH, a 100 % subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn ) opposite.

Traffic Operation

Meanwhile, the business focus is on the operation of bus services mainly in the part of the country Baden. The operational management is carried out by eleven regional transport company with three associated Busleitstellen.

  • Traffic operation Hohenlohe-Main/Tauber based in Dörzbach: Operation of bus services in Hohenlohe and Main -Tauber -Kreis, emerged from the Jagsttal web.
  • Traffic operation Kraichgau- Wiesloch based in Wiesloch Busleitstelle Sinsheim: Extensive bus services with a focus on northern Kraichgau with city traffic Walldorf / Wiesloch, emerged from the branch line Wiesloch-Meckesheim/Waldangelloch.

  • Transport equipment Baden- Lahr based in Lahr with the Busleitstellen Schutterwald and Kehl: Extensive bus services in Ortenaukreis and city traffic in Lahr, Kehl and Offenburg, partly performed by the 80 % subsidiary Ortenau Regio Bus GmbH. The origin of the operation goes back to the former MEG line Kehl Lahr Seelbach.
  • Traffic operation Breisgau- Emperor chair with seat in Endingen a K.: Location of a major operations center for rail vehicles, rail transport (particularly on the eastern branch) and freight transport on the Kaiserstuhlbahn and bus traffic in Kaiser Chair in the field of counties Emmendingen Breisgau Black Forest.
  • Traffic operation Breisgau- Staufen headquartered in Staufen im Breisgau: rail transport on the Munster Railway. The operation of three bus lines ( a parallel to the railway, one as a replacement for the disused branch after Sulzburg, a school transport for honor churches ) is organizationally assigned to the Traffic Operation Müllheim.
  • Traffic operation Markgraeflerland based in garbage home Badenweiler: operation of three bus routes between Neuchâtel, garbage home and Badenweiler in Markgraeflerland. The operation goes back to the disused rubbish home Badenweiler railway.
  • Traffic operation Weil am Rhein- Lörrach, based in Weil am Rhein: Operation of bus services with a focus on the city traffic Weil am Rhein and Lörrach, but also in the neighboring communities in Markgraeflerland as well as cross-border lines to Basel ( for example, line 16, which on its distance three times the border between Germany and Switzerland crosses ) embrace. Origin of the operation is the Kandertalbahn now in the Museum operation located.

The local rail services are provided on the Harmersbachtalbahn partially and on the Achertalbahn completely through the 100 % subsidiary Ortenau S- Bahn GmbH (OSB).

The SWEG operates as a railway infrastructure company following routes with a total length of 104 kilometers ( km):

  • Achertalbahn: Achern - Ottenhoefen (10,7 km )
  • Bühl- Stollhofen - Söllingen (only freight, 14.6 km )
  • Harmersbachtalbahn: Biberach (Baden ) Oberharmersbach - Riersbach ( 10.6 km )
  • Kaiserstuhlbahn: God Home bolt a K - Breisach (40,2 km )
  • Krebsbach Valley Railway: Neckarbischofsheim North Hüffenhardt ( 16.9 km )
  • Munster train: Bad Krozingen - Munster (10,9 km )

Subsidiaries

Overall, five subsidiaries owned by the SWEG: OSB Ortenau S -Bahn (100 percent), BOD Breisgau- S -Bahn (100 percent), NPV transport Mittelbaden Walz ( 100 percent), ORB Ortenau Regio Bus ( 80 percent ) and RVO regional transport company upper Rhine GmbH (50 percent). Since March 18, 2010 SWEG is the owner of NVW transport Mittelbaden Walz GmbH from hilltop home. Since 1 January 2013, the SWEG is the sole shareholder of Breisgau- S- Bahn GmbH.

Investments

The SWEG is in cooperation with the contained to 72 % in local property Hohenzollerische Landesbahn ( HzL ), the companies have since June 2000 person- same Board. Both companies hold shares in vehicle deployment Baden- Württemberg GmbH ( FBBW ).
