Sugar Ray Norcia

Sugar Ray Norcia (* in Stonington, Connecticut) is an American blues singer and harmonica player.

Life

Ray Norcia began in high school with the harmonica. After he had moved to Providence, he founded the Blue Tones, a group that appeared in local clubs, as well as a band for artists on tour played (eg, Big Walter Horton, Big Mama Thornton, Big Joe Turner and Roosevelt Sykes ).

Between 1982 and 1991 he recorded various albums for Rounder and Bullseye as a solo artist. In 1991, he became a singer of Roomful of Blues, with whom he recorded three albums and toured extensively. In 1998 he left the band and took Sweet & Swingin ' on. Among other things he also played on the Grammy-nominated CD Superharps, together with James Cotton, Billy Branch and Charlie Musselwhite. In 2007 he took the Bluetones on his most recent CD.
