Sund, Faroe Islands

Sund is a small town of the Faroe Islands on the southern coast of the main island Streymoy.

Sund has its name from the Streymoy and Eysturoy separates from the Sound, from each other, and at the southern end it is located. At the same time the place is the entrance of the fjord Kaldbaksfjørður, the west cuts from here to the coast Streymoys.

Originally Sund from a farm. Then, a power plant was set up with a small seaport, which should relieve those of the capital in the south. This idea was dropped, however, and so is the port of the management of the nearby aquaculture.
