Sventevith ( Storming Near the Baltic ) is the debut album of extreme metal band Behemoth. It was recorded in 1994 Warrior Studio and published in 1995 by Pagan Records.

Even before the band released through the support of the Italian label Entropy Productions their EP And the Forests Dreams Eternally. On this behemoth is related to geography and Slavic mythology, which was associated with Satanism.

In 1995, the label Pagan Records Behemoth first album Sventevith published ( Storming Near the Baltic ); also this was recorded with poor equipment, which only changed to 1996 or 1997. The band, particularly band founder Nergal, then this album in retrospect as the first turning point in the band's history to date four years, since it came internationally on all around positive response. So also, the German label Solistitium Records became aware of them. Due to lack of financial support ended Behemoth cooperation.

Style

The style of the album is quite different from the later albums, Behemoth is here as well as on Forests Dream Eternally And the and ... From the Pagan Vastlands from the Norwegian Black Metal influences, their music was comparable to the previous Enslaved and due to the use of Keyboards, piano and acoustic guitars some very atmospheric. The production is raw and the guitars sawing motion, which Nergal returns on bad equipment.
