Svídnice (Rychnov nad Kněžnou District)

Svídnice ( German Schweidnitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers south-west of Rychnov nad Kněžnou and belongs to Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou.

Geography

The village in the valley of the brook Vrbický creek is located in the north of Chotzener panel ( Choceňská tabule ) between the valleys of the rivers Wild eagles and Brodec. To the northeast lies the 444 m high hill Kastel. Through the village leads the state road 316 between Choceň and Kostelec nad Orlicí.

Neighboring towns are Dvůr Forberk in the north, Sucha Rybná in the northeast, Vrbice in the east, and Chlínky Krchleby the southeast, Brumbárov in the south, the west and Kozodry Koryta and Kostelecká Lhota in the northwest.

History

Svídnice was probably already at the time Kojata IV of Hrabischitz and was part of the rule Potštejn. Was first mentioned in 1342 by the village Čeněk and Jezek of pot stone, which reproached the place along with Lhotka for her mother.

1827 131 people lived in the village. In 1846 a new road was built by Choceň. 1881, the fire department was founded.

Together with the district of Sucha Rybná Svídnice had 1929 420 inhabitants who lived by agriculture. In the 20th century began a strong population decline, as many inhabitants made their living in the cities and moved away.

The municipality consists of the villages of Svídnice Sucha Rybná ( Ribnau ) and Svídnice ( Schweidnitz ).
