Åšwierkle

Horst Polish Świerkle is a town in Upper Silesia. Horst is located in the town of Gross Döbern in powiat Opolski in Polish Opole Voivodeship.

History

Horst was born in 1773 as a colony.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 223 voters voted to remain in Germany and 192 for Poland. Horst remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 589 inhabitants in the village. 1939, the place had 593 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Opole.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Świerkle and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Opolski. On 22 April 2009 German was in the village of Great Döbern who belongs Horst, introduced as a second official language on 1 December 2009 was the place in addition to the official German place name Horst.
