Sworn Enemy
Sworn Enemy is a Crossover-Thrash/Hardcore-Band from Queens (New York), which was founded in 1997. The only constant member since its founding is Sal Lococo. The music incorporated influences of different metal genre.
Band History
In 1997, the two guitarists Lorenzo Antonucci and Mike Raffinello together with vocalist Sal Lococo the band Mindset. With bassist Shawn Cox and drummer began playing live. Having been a single was recorded in 1999 was changed the name to Sworn Enemy, because another band with the old name already existed. Although few resources and no record deal were available, was recorded the EP Negative Outlook with the help of Mike Dijion.
This publication was moving Jamey Jasta ( Hatebreed ) to take them to his label Stillborn Records. In addition, he also began to act as a manager for Sworn Enemy. Although the EP sold quite well, leaving Shawn Cox and drummer the band and were replaced by the members of Cold As Life, bassist Mike Couls and Timmy Mycek on drums. The two were looking after the dissolution of their old band, a new band and found themselves in a Sworn Enemy. There followed a number of appearances, including with Hatebreed, Agnostic Front and Unearth until then in June 2003, this time on the major label Elektra Records, the album As Real As It Gets published.
Thereafter, they toured with Fear Factory, Slipknot and Chimaira by the United States. Then the guitarist Mike and Mike Raffinello Couls left the band. As a replacement on bass the old band member Shawn Cox was appointed back in the line-up, guitarist Jamin Hunt was joined by the band. In January 2006, then The Beginning of the End, which was published by Abacus in the U.S. and produced by Tim Lambesis ( As I Lay Dying ) appeared.
This was followed by a tour with Anthrax, God Forbid Manntis and until then was a release of the album on Century Media in Europe.
The new album called "Maniacal " was released on 9 November 2007 in Europe, in the U.S. it was released in February 2008. In this Album As I Lay Dying drummer Jordan Mancino has recorded the drums for now stepped out Paul Antignai. On this album even more Thrash Metal influences can be heard as its predecessor The Beginning Of The End. There is also a tour to "Maniacal " with Agnostic Front, on the Persistence Tour with, among others, Hatebreed, Ignite, and Evergreen Terrace you will also be represented.
In December 2009, a founding member Lorenzo Antonucci announced that he is leaving Sworn Enemy and now want to care more about his new band Smash Face.
Style
Sworn Enemy play Hardcore of the 90's, combined with thrash metal elements. Used techniques are double bass and staccato riffs. They see themselves as of old New York hardcore bands like Cro -Mags and Agnostic Front influenced also are metal bands like Slayer, Anthrax and Metallica important influences. The lyrics of the band are Christian.
