Sylviane Berthod

Sylviane Berthod ( born April 25, 1977 in Salins) is a former Swiss ski racer. It is four times Swiss champion in downhill (1997, 1998, 1999 ) and giant slalom (1998).

Berthod began her international career by winning the Junior World Championships in the downhill and super-G 1995 1996. The Swiss Sports Aid Foundation drew as a junior athlete of the year 1996. Their first World Cup races she contested in January 1996. Biggest success was the victory in the departure of St. Moritz in December 2001, their only World Cup. Two years earlier, she had to rush on the same track without suffered a cruciate ligament injury.

She took four times at World Alpine Ski Championships in part (1999, 2001, 2003, 2005). Her best they reached in 1999 in Vail with a 7th place in the downhill. The same place they reached three years later at the Olympic downhill from Snowbasin. Since they found no place in the Swiss national team, she gave in May 2008 their resignation.

Berthod is socially engaged. She is a board member of the organization, founded in 1999 " Stars des neiges ", which advocates for children who are suffering from the metabolic disorder cystic fibrosis.
