Symbol of Salvation is the fourth studio album by the American heavy metal band Armored Saint. It was released in May 1991 on Metal Blade Records.

Formation and style

The songs on the album emerged as demo recordings between 1988 and 1991 the Demos. Were still recorded with guitarist Dave Prichard, but died of leukemia before the album recordings in 1990. He is also dedicated to the album. The first guitar solo of the piece Tainted Past still comes from Prichard.

After his death, within seven months of 1990, the band nearly broke up. But the record company Metal Blade convinced the band had already written 25 pieces to keep going. They rehearsed with another guitar player, but decided to keep going with the former members Jeff Duncan and Phil Sandoval.

Most tracks on the album are melodic mid-tempo metal songs, among which stand out the rhythmic tribal dance or ballad Another Day among others. The latter is initiated by the notes you play with two part guitar intro Half Drawn Bridge.

Published in 2003, Metal Blade a remastered reissue, among other things, to a total of three CDs the demo recordings contained. Also appeared in 2011 a new edition on the occasion of the 20th anniversary.

Reception

Eduardo Rivadavia awarded at Allmusic 4.5 out of five stars and the award " AMG Album Pick".
