Syrian parliamentary election, 1954

In Syria 1954 Parliament elections were held on 24 and 25 September, with a second round between the 4th and the 5th of October. It was a democratic election in the former Syrian Republic.

Independent candidates were election as the largest block in parliament, while the People's Party under Nazem Koudsi was charged with 30 seats to the largest single party. The Muslim Brotherhood did not occur as such. There were 54 independent, some of which the Muslim Brotherhood and other parties were close, which explains the discrepancies in the results of various blocks. There was also also nine tribal seats. Overall, there were 140 to 142 MPs.
