Talkdemonic

Talkdemonic is an American avant-garde instrumental duo from Portland, Oregon. The band consists of Kevin O'Connor and Lisa Molinaro.

History

Talkdemonic was founded by O'Connor in December 2002 after he moved from Pullman, Washington to Portland. It started as a musical project about his obsession with instrumental hip-hop and electronic music express. O'Connor heard at a local club, the word " Talkdemonic ", which perfectly fit into his eyes for the project. Originally played O'Connor concerts alone, viola pieces recorded with Molinaros before. Accordion, banjo, guitar and piano were also played from a notebook.

The first album, Mutiny Sunshine, was released in May 2004 under the label Lucky Madison and was taken within a year. After a few solo concerts O'Connor Molinaro convinced to become a full member of the band.

Talkdemonic received the title of " Portland 's Best New Band 2005 " by the Willamette Week and went with The National and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah in the fall of 2005 on tour.

Most of the time in 2005, the band spent with concerts and recording new songs. They signed with the label Arena Rock Recording Co., which also released their second album, Beat Romantic, was released in March 2006. The album received many positive reviews. Following the publication Talkdemonic went with Quasi, The Walkmen, Scout Niblett and The National on tour.

In February 2007, they were taken in the UK by One Little Indian under contract. The side label Tangled Up! published an expanded version of Beat Romantic in Europe on 17 September 2007. This version contains a cover of Brian Eno Sombre Reptiles and a music video for Mountain Cats.

Molinaro also went six months as Multiinstrumentalitistin and singer with The Decemberists, late 2006 to early 2007 tour.
