Tannbach (Saale)

The Tannbach in Mödlareuth

The Tannbach is about six kilometers long river in Thuringia and Bavaria.

It rises east of Gefell in the Thuringian Saale- Orla-Kreis. It first flows in a southerly direction through Gebersreuth before reaching the village Mödlareuth. Here he played an important role at the time of the division of Germany. He divided the village into a belonging to East North West and a part belonging to the Federal Republic of Germany southeast part. Today, it runs the Thuringian- Bavarian border. Below Mödlareuth he continues to flow in a south-westerly direction before it opens at Hirschberg from the right in the hall.

The name of the creek is derived actually from the pine tree.
