Tanx is published in March 1973 fourth official album by the British glam rock band T. Rex.

Album

Tanx is the last LP, which in the classic line-up consisting of Marc Bolan (voc, g), Mickey Finn ( perc, BVOC ), Steve Currie (bg) and Bill Legend ( drums), was recorded and on the Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman can be heard as background singers. Even Tony Visconti has taken over for the last time in all tracks of T. Rex LP production. The album also marks the beginning of the end of the most commercially successful about two and a half - year period of the group.

The album was recorded in 1972 in the Chateau d' Herouville, Paris and the Rosenberg Studios in Copenhagen. Some critics listen to Tanx already first signs of fatigue and self- producer Tony Visconti admits that he and the group repeated obvious. The band at this time was often away on tour, Bolan wrote in hotel rooms between the performances of new songs and there was little time for their elaboration.

Unlike the two previous albums can be found on Tanx no hit singles. The song Born to Boogie, which is not included in the same concert film of Ringo Starr, but at the end of 1972 appeared along with a spoken of Bolan Xmas reef as a B- side of the single Solid Gold - Easy Action ( # 2 UK, 6 D ). This is how the same time as the album released hit single 20th Century Boy, who came to Britain to # 3 on the official UK single charts, and was a top ten hit in Germany, and those B-side Free Angel included on later CD releases as a bonus track. Similarly, the single Children of the Revolution / Jitterbug Love / Sunken Rags, which was ranked 2 in the UK charts and number 4 in Germany (without Sunken Rags ). The album title Mad Donna appeared in Germany just a year later as a B- side of Teenage Dream.

The album entered the LP charts at number 4 in the UK and was 3rd place with the höchstplatzierteste LP of the group in Germany.
