Taphrinomycotina

From Taphrina deformans infected peach tree.

The Taphrinomycotina are one of three groups of ascomycetes ( Ascomycota ) and rank of a subdivision. Several representatives are parasitic.

Features

These fungi grow as unicellular or form mycelia. There are groups (such as Pneumocystis ), which only grow yeast -like, and dimorphic groups that grow both yeast -like as well as ply ( Taphrina ). The asci are formed by binuclear cells. They form no ascocarp.

The subdivision is only held together by common genetic features.

System

The Taphrinomycotina are a natural kinship group ( monophyletic ). They are the basal group of the Ascomycota.

A cladogram is as follows:

Pezizomycotina

Saccharomycotina

Taphrinomycotina

A synonym for the Taphrinomycotina is Archaeascomycetes.

The group following groups are counted:

  • Class Taphrinomycetes Order Taphrinales: plant parasites
  • Order hose lobe -like ( Neolectales ) with the single genus Neolecta: Saprobionten in forests.
  • Pneumocystidales order with only one genus Pneumocystis: parasite in mammalian lungs
  • Order Schizosaccharomycetales: Saprobiont in sugary plant exudates
