Tarnowskie Góry County

The powiat tarnogórski is a powiat ( county ) in the Polish province of Silesia, with the county town of Tarnów Gory ( Tarnowitz ). It has an area of 643 km ², on the approximately 135,000 inhabitants.

The German district of Erlangen - Hochstadt is a partner in county of Powiats.

Geography

The circle is relatively centrally located in the Silesian Voivodeship, located in the northern part of the Upper Silesian plate. Neighboring districts are in the north Lubliniec, in the west Myszków and bendin in the south of the cities of Piekary Śląskie, Bytom, Zabrze and Gliwice and in the east the counties Gliwice and Strzelce ( Opole Voivodeship ).

History

The area of present-day powiat tarnogórski is heterogeneous historically right. Except for the small Polish community Ożarowice that the Brinitz lies to the east, he belongs to the historical region of Upper Silesia. The eastern part of today's Powiats fell in 1922 to Poland (Autonomous Silesian Voivodeship ), the western part, roughly outlined by the communities Krupski Mlyn, Tworóg and Zbrosławice remained until 1945 throughout the German Reich. The historical antecedents of today's circle, the Prussian circle Tarnowitz originated in 1873 from the former district of Bytom, but had smaller proportions. From 1922 to 1939 there was a first Polish powiat tarnogórski, which included today for county- Piekary Śląskie belonging places in the south. Today powiat was dissolved as all Polish communities from 1975 to 1998, and still includes areas of the former county Tost - Gleiwitz in the west, to the north with the place Krupski Mlyn of large Strehlitz and Drutarnia of Lublinitz.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the powiat tarnogórski was introduced in 2002.

Description On a blue shield a half yellow ( golden ) eagle, including a five-petalled white ( silver ) rose with red button.

Meaning: The golden eagle on blue background stands for the centuries- long ties of most of the circle with the Upper Silesian Piast dynasty and is the emblem of Upper Silesia. The rose is included in the coat of arms of two noble families who ruled large parts of the county area.
