Telheiras (Lisbon Metro)

Telheiras is an underground station of the Linha Verde the Lisbon Metro, the underground network of the Portuguese capital. The station is located beneath a public park on the Estrada de Telheiras in the Lisbon municipality Lumiar. The station is the northern terminus Telheiras the Linha Verde, the only neighboring station is Campo Grande; the station went on 2 November 2002.

History

In order to offer the space enclosed by motorways small neighborhood Telheiras, administratively part of the municipality Lumiar, a high-order transport connection, decided the city of Lisbon, the Linha Verde, which ends in 1993 at the next station Campo Grande to extend a station in the west. At the same time, this should represent the first stage of a long- planned extension of the Linha Verde towards Pontinha.

Construction of the metro station was completed in October 2002, so the station on November 2, 2002 went into operation. For the construction of the railway station of the Portuguese architect Duarte Nuno Simões was responsible, who designed a semi-circular, high platform hall with two 105 -meter-long side platforms. Since the train station is directly under a public green space, the opportunity arose at least to create small light inlets. Seven small, pyramid-shaped inlets give as Metro Station daylight. Eduardo Batarda was responsible for the artistic design; he used herein, the traditional tile technology and designed on a blue background, various "open" figures, which are to ever see the end of the platform and the mezzanine. The station has three elevators for construction of both (of the two platforms to the mezzanine level, and from there to the road surface ) and already side platforms, which are designed for six-car compositions. Nevertheless, in stations being only four-car trains, as not all platforms of the Linha Verde have been extended to the corresponding minimum length.

Long-term plan, the route from the station Telheiras over three intermediate stations ( project names are Fernando Namora, Senhora da Luz and Padre Cruz ) to the currently existing Metro Station Pontinha to extend the suburbs. It is also planned that the track Campo Grande- Telheiras ( - Pontinha ) is to be taken over by the coming from Lisbon Airport Linha Vermelha. For both projects, there are still no dates, since currently there are other extensions of the metro network in the foreground.
