Temple of Agriculture

The agriculture altar or altar of agriculture ( Xiannongtan先农坛) is a historic site in the city of Beijing Xuanwu District, and is located near the Temple of Heaven. It was built in the 15th century and was used during the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, the emperor to sacrifice to the field God who is said to have taught humans plowing.

The temple stands since 2001 on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 5-202 ).
