Terrence Prendergast

Terrence Thomas Prendergast, SJ ( born February 19, 1944 in Montreal ) is Archbishop of Ottawa.

Life

Terrence Thomas Prendergast joined the Congregation of the Jesuits, put the profession on August 15, 1963, the Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto, Thomas Benjamin Fulton, ordained him a priest on 10 June 1972.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on 22 February 1995 in Toronto and Titular Bishop of Slebte. The Archbishop of Toronto, Aloysius Matthew Ambrozic, consecrated him on April 25th of that year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Thomas Benjamin Fulton, Bishop Emeritus of Saint Catharines, and Attila Miklósházy SJ, in charge of the pastoral Hungary.

As a motto he chose In Nomine Jesus. On June 30, 1998, he was appointed Archbishop of Halifax and introduced into the office on 14 September of the same year. On 22 January 2002, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Yarmouth. On 14 May 2007 he was appointed Archbishop of Ottawa and introduced into the office on 26 June of the same year.
