Tetracentron

The four- spur tree ( Tetra sinense ) is the only species in the monotypic genus Tetracentron the only two genera and two containing Trochodendraceae family, the only family of the order of Trochodendrales species.

Dissemination

Tetra sinense is native to central and western China. But also in northern Burma and Nepal natural resources were discovered. It has been cultivated in arboreta and occasionally in gardens. But he is a real rarity.

Description

This deciduous deciduous tree reaches heights of growth of up to 15 meters. The bark of the branches is gray-brown. Before the leaves, the buds grow upwards. The change-constant leaves are oval to heart- shaped form and are directed to the summit. They are 7-12 cm long, serrated and coated with five to seven main veins.
