The Chevin (Band)

The Chevin are an English indie rock band from Leeds in West Yorkshire, which was founded in 2010.

History

The band formed in the small town of Otley which lies in a valley on the outskirts of Leeds on the Wharfe. South of Otley extends a chain of hills, whose name is " The Chevin " - hence the band its name. At the age of 12 years, Coyle Girelli school friends and Mat Steel began here with writing your own titles and then tried in the following years to make a name in the neighboring city. Girelli who is passionate Nirvana, Oasis and Beatles fan, it took over the vocals and accompanied as well as Mat Steel with the guitar. Quickly, she also got to know Jon Langford, the two from now supported as a bass player. But only when they the also dating Otley time Taylor arrived in 2010, the band for bigger tasks seemed to be ready.

In spring 2011, The Chevin learned the producer Noah Shain of Los Angeles, with whom they recorded in the Sonic Ranch, a studio complex south of El Paso in Texas, some self-composed tracks. Only a short time later, the label Fierce Panda Records became aware of the band, offered a record deal and then published their first EP The Champion. After particularly the eponymous title track was played in the UK by various radio stations, the band was given the opportunity to accompany The Airborne Toxic Event on a four-week UK tour in November 2011. In the same year they supported the White Lies as the opening act at their winter stadium tour. In early 2012 they accompanied The Pigeon Detectives in a joint tour bus at a European tour with a total of 16 appearances. The breakthrough came in March at SXSW Festival in Austin / Texas (USA). After the success constantly growing, the band took care from April 2012 to the completion of their first studio album Borderland, published in the U.S. on 25 September 2012, and will debut in Europe on October 15, 2012 in the UK. In Germany the album from Sony Music will be moved and will be officially released on October 19, 2012.

On August 29, 2012, the band at the Late Show with David Letterman debuted on U.S. television and played live in front of an audience of millions their first single Champion, which was released the same day as MP3 download. The title of Champion is featured on the soundtrack of the football game FIFA 13.
