The Dutchess
The Dutchess is the debut album of singer Fergie. The work was produced mainly by will.i.am. The album was released on 18 September 2006 in Europe and a day later in the United States.
Singles
The first single was released on 18 July 2006 London Bridge on the American market. The song, which was produced by Polow da Don, where reached # 1 on the Billboard charts. In Germany and the UK, she managed a similarly good result. In October of the same year the second single Fergalicious appeared and climbed to top positions in the charts. The song is based on Supersonic by J. J. Fad, one of the first female rap groups. The third song was Glamorous in which it is supported by rapper Ludacris, published, and could build on the success of the previous singles. The fourth single was finally released Big Girls Do not Cry, which could even surpass the success of the three previous singles with number 1 in the U.S. and a top 10 ranking in Germany ( ranked # 6) and in England ( ranked # 2).
Music style
While Stacy Ferguson resorted to the three singles on rap and hip -hop influences, they used ska elements with brass and percussion for Voodoo Doll. With the rocking Losing My Ground produced by Rob Bolot and Ron flair, the singer sets apart with their drug past. For Clumsy they used a sample of Little Richard songs The Girl Can not Help it. Here I Come makes use of for the song Get Ready by The Temptations. In Mary Janes Shoes, which used Indian riddims, Fergie is also supported by Rita Marley.

The albums title is a nod to Sarah, Duchess of York, whose title is in English, Duchess of York, bearing the same surname and nickname as the artist.
