History

2009 the band first started, some songs that would later be recorded for The First Days of Spring, to play at concerts. When the band returned to the studio, she decided, because of Charlie Fink's girlfriend Laura Marling to dispense with female backing vocals.

For album a 47- minute short film was made in the songs of the album have been implemented in a continuous action. The separation Fink and Marling is a recurrent theme in the lyrics of The First Day of Spring, Fink wrote all of the songs in the first-person narrative form. In addition to the more melancholy compared to the first album lyrics a second change even took place: The initial, ajar to indie folk music style evolved into indie rock - a change that was even more apparent with the third album, Last Night on Earth.

Three days before the release of the album left drummer ( and brother Charlie Fink ), Doug Fink, the band to start a career as a doctor. His successor was ex -Pull Tiger Tail drummer Jack Hamson.

The first single, 2009 Blue Skies was released on 26 August, which reached the 95th place in the UK charts and was used in the television series One Tree Hill as well as in the film The Descendants. Blue Skies serves as one of the main themes of the album, some of the songs can be heard already in Our Window. The song can also be heard in the trailer for The First Days of Spring.
