The Greatest American

The Greatest American was a ranking show that aired the TV channel Discovery Channel in collaboration with AOL on 5 June 2005. Here, the viewers from the United States of America should select their most important compatriots. Previously, it was on 18 April 2005 after a viewer survey an announcement of the 100 Greatest American nominees as AOL and the Discovery Channel.

A similar approach pursued in 2002, the mission of the 100 Greatest Britons BBC. Later followed by similar programs, such as in Germany with our best in Canada the show The Greatest Canadian, The Netherlands De Grootste Nederlander, South Africa Great South Africans, and in Finland Suuret Suomalaiset.
