The Highwaymen (folk band)

The Highwaymen were an American folk-rock band that was formed in the late 1950s at the University of Middletown, Connecticut.

Career

In the fall of 1958, four students from Wesleyan University in Middletown occurred in the U.S. state of Connecticut Dave Fisher, Steve Butts, Chan Daniels and Bob Burnett first appearance as Scots- Irish folk band under the name The Clansmen. During rehearsals for a university show came as the fifth member, guitarist Steve Trott to the group. After several successful performances, the quintet sought a recording contract, which occurred with the record company United Artists Records (UA) in early 1959. In the late summer of 1960 UA released the first long-playing record (LP) with partly self-written songs of the Highwaymen as The Highwaymen, produced by Don Costa. The panel attracted as little attention as the debut single with the extractions Santiano and Michael, Row The Boat Ashore. Only started as a dealer in Connecticut, to operate for the Michael B-side advertising and other dealers as well as disc jockeys followed him, the demand for the board first in the northeastern United States and later nationwide. In the U.S. Billboard charts the title was recorded for the first time in July 1961 and ended in September on the top spot. Even with their second single, which was released in October 1962, the Highwaymen were successful. In 1962, all five band members completed her high school, settled in New York's Greenwich Village and beat the Gaslight Club her master 's accommodation.
