ABC Records

ABC Records was launched in 1955 under the name ABC - Paramount Records, the record label of the Am- Par Record Corporation (a subsidiary company of " American Broadcasting - Paramount Theaters, Inc" ), founded in New York City in 1955. As a record company she was owned by the record labels ABC - Paramount Records. This was the official name founder of ABC Records. In addition to the direct production of records ABC took finished artists from independent producers under contract to market their regional recordings published nationwide.

In 1965, ABC - Paramount Records was held under a new name: ABC Records. ABC Dunhill Records was created with the purchase of Dunhill Records in 1966 to life. We drove beyond Sire Records.

ABC Records itself was bought in 1979 by MCA Records, former label of the Music Corporation of America: The ABC label was set. The better selling albums in the ABC repertoire were again, this time under the MCA label, released.

Sub-label and adding purchases

ABC Records sublabelte Apt Records to release singles. In the early sixties was called Impulse Records in life to drive jazz recordings. A few years later Bluesway Records was created to bring their Blue recordings on the market.

In addition to the sublabels acquired ABC Records Label all of Enoch Light in October 1959. Acquired ABC Audition Records, Command Performance Records, Records and Colortone Waldorf Music Hall Records.

In the 70 both Duke and Peacock Records Records (23 May 1973) were added. A year later, in 1974, acquired to the record label by Gulf and Western ( this included Dot Records and Blue Thumb Records with one ).
