The Irony of Fate 2

Irony of Fate: Continuation (Russian Ирония судьбы: Продолжение / Ironija sudby: Prodolschenije ) is a Russian film from 2007 by Timur Bekmambetov. It is based on a Screenplay by Alexei Slapowski, was produced by the first channel and published by Mosfilm. The film budget was $ 5,000,000. The sequel played until January 28, 2008 in Russia alone an already converted 47,639,171 U.S. dollar and thus became the most successful Russian film of all time. It is both a sequel and a remake of the first twist of fate.

The first press release about the plans for a sequel were published for the 30th anniversary of the previous 2005 film.

The cast of the first film now have children who manage to get their parents many years ago in the same situation.

Trivia

  • Milla Jovovich was nominated by the screenwriter for the role of young Nadja, but declined after she had read the script.
  • The film is packed with product placement of Nokia, Toyota, Beeline, Aeroflot, Faberlic, Nescafé and even the vodka brand Russian Standard
  • Almost every frame of the film makes emphatic use of the combination of red and blue (wine glass on the table decoration of the New Year tree, the red door in the blue wall etc ). The same colors are used on the balloons with the name of the performer.
  • The apartment No. 13, where the main story takes place, was called by the filmmakers " fairy tale" (see bonus material on the DVD ), the interior walls were covered with " magical things".
  • The date on the Christmas Cracker ( photo appears on the bonus material of the DVD) is the 24th December 2006. This may be an indication that the film plot is set in the night before Christmas, not before New Year's Day.
