The Joy Formidable

The Joy Formidable is a three -piece band, which originates from the north of Wales and now is based in London, England. Ritzy Bryan (vocals, guitar) and Rhydian Dafydd (vocals, bass) originally played together in the New Wave / post- punk band Sidecar Kisses, before the band broke up. In 2007, the band was formed under the new name The Joy Formidable, with Justin Stahley on drums. Their music is described as " original, epic grunge rock à la The Breeders, Arcade Fire and Yeah Yeah Yeahs ."

Band History

Creation and Balloon Called Moaning album A

After its founding in 2007 and the release of " Cradle" for download in July 2008, the band released 18 August 2008 their debut single, " Austere " out on CD. The Times described it as " dreamy indie pop ". " Austere " was followed by a second single, a limited edition of " Cradle" on CD. The mini- album A Balloon Called Moaning with eight titles published in December 2008, initially only in Japan and only in February 2009 as a CD and as a (shortened ) free download version. To promote the record, the band has performed at several festivals, including the Latitude Festival and the Reading Festival, in this time Stahley was replaced by Matthew Thomas on drums. The third single, " Whirring " came in May 2009 on the market. The (digital only available ) free single the end of 2009 appeared " Greyhounds in the Slips ", produced by former Mansun frontman Paul Draper. A limited edition live album entitled First You Have To Get Mad was published on November 30, 2009. The band toured in the United Kingdom, among others, with the Editors and Passion Pit.

Regular debut album

The sixth single of the band, " Popinjay " was released on iTunes on February 21, 2010. On April 5, the release of the single was followed by CD, which precedes the as yet unnamed, first regular album. For the promotion of single and album, the band is on a tour with 18 concert dates by the United Kingdom from March 14, 2010.
